Ray Hintz Inc. Introduce
For decades, the name Ray Hintz Inc. has been synonymous with construction, site development, and quality landscape materials throughout Southeastern Wisconsin. Established in 1974 by founder Ray Hintz, this Caledonia-based company has grown from its landscaping roots into a full-spectrum general contracting and heavy equipment operation, anchoring the Hintz family of businesses. Serving a wide area that includes Kenosha, Racine, Milwaukee, and Waukesha Counties, Ray Hintz Inc. is an essential local partner for both contractors and homeowners needing earth-moving, material supply, and comprehensive construction services.
As a seasoned general contractor, the company leverages an extensive fleet of heavy vehicles and equipment to manage a diverse range of projects in both the public and private sectors. This deep-rooted presence means local customers are partnering with a company that understands the specific demands and conditions of the Wisconsin environment.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Very disappointed in this soil - it was loaded with stones and pebbles and is very hard. I received it a month ago but just recently my grandsons had the time to fill my above ground planters and I just had the time to plant. When planting I noticed that it was very hard and my most if my seeds haven’t even sprouted. Their mixture is very hard and I’m so disappointed - 3 yards and I have to add perlite and coco core mix to even get it workable - at this late stage I feel very ripped off. I was told that no one else has complained, but in looking at previous reviews , this is not true. There is another with the same complaint as mine. I offered for them to come and look but was told no. I got no compensation whatsoever, just told that it was a great mix and no one else has complained. I beg to differ on their response - not happy! I do not recommend and will never order from them again. You stole my chance to have a beautiful vegetable and herb garden - no chance to enjoy the wonderful fragrance and everything that that garden would have given. I paid $340 for 6 yards of potting soil - this hard as a rock stuff is not potting soil! I still think that you should reimburse me for at least some of what I paid you for me to be able to get the real thing - top soil and other additives to make this even workable. I feel so cheated by you and I will be your worst advertising if you don’t do something about this soon - I need financial reimbursement for your error in shipping me the wrong product.
June 20 · Joanne KaprelianEdited review 5/9/2025 fm 2 Stars on topsoil received to 5 Stars for customer service.Owners called today about my review and treatment on the phone. He apologized for the product we received. He came out to look at the pile and agreed it must have been a pile that hadn't been worked on. He refunded us and apologized again. We order topsoil yearly and will definitely give them another try next spring.Very disappointed in our topsoil order. Make sure you inspect it before ordering a delivery. For being labeled pulverized and screened, the 3-yard load we got was 1/4 clay balls and gravel. The dark, rich soil we got in the past is definitely not the standard anymore. I called to tell them the load was poor quality and they said that the screens are letting that junk through.
May 09 · Debbie GultchIf you buy soil from these guys, there’s a very high chance they are going to deliver bad product! Full of rocks, pebbles & is almost as hard as clay. When you complain or ask for a reimbursement. They will not work with you at all. Very unprofessional scammers!
June 13 · CaptainGreenThumbsReally disappointed; I drove 40 miles to come look at materials for our yard because I had called the day before and they were the kindest of everyone. I barely got around the first row and I was told to leave the yard…
