A Regrettable 10-Month Experience with Misappropriated Funds, Property Damage, and NegligenceWe hired Grass N More, owned by Kale Barch, for a landscaping project that began in September 2024. This entire experience has been a catastrophic failure, resulting in financial loss, severe property damage, and immense stress. This review is a warning to anyone considering doing business with this company.The issues began when we paid a $40,000 down payment for our project. Unknown to us until later, according to the owner, Kale Barch's own admission, these funds were never used for our project but were instead misappropriated for his personal use during the "lean months." This gross misconduct established a pattern of deception and negligence that continued throughout the 10-month ordeal.The project was plagued with long, unexplained gaps in service and a complete lack of proactive communication from Grass N More. When the crew occasionally appeared on-site, they smelled of drugs or alcohol, creating an unsafe and unprofessional environment. On average, their workday lasted only a few hours before they were absent for weeks to months at a time. The 3 man crew dwindled to 2 after the most junior member broke down in an outburst of profanity onsite.The quality of work was grossly inadequate and has led to severe property damage. Poor-quality materials were used, and their inferior construction techniques are causing their installations of pavers and retaining walls to fail. The existing hillside, which once was a natural sanctuary, is riddled with construction debris and fast eroding. The yard was used as a dumping zone for trash and debris, which destroyed the lawn and garden spaces. Heavy equipment and work trailers were abandoned on our property and on the public street for extended periods, creating hazards and drawing negative attention from the community. Materials were left onsite, improperly stored and exposed to the weather, ruining dozens of concrete bags and degrading wood and metal materials.The Grass N More’s negligence has caused lasting and costly damage to our home. The hillside around our house is now degraded, leading to the need for significant and expensive erosion repairs. The crew also negligently left utility lines exposed, sheared off a septic discharge pipe, destroyed drainage pipes, intentionally neglected to install necessary, industry standard, structural supports, and left debris on neighbors’ properties, causing community conflicts.In addition, multiple attempts to communicate and resolve issues directly with the owner, Kale Barch, resulted in evasive excuses, false assurances of competence and his admission of misusing our funds, meant for the project, to support himself personally.After enduring 10 months of incompetence, deliberate neglect, and deception by Grass N More, we are left to pick up the pieces and incur significant additional costs to repair the damage to our home, property, and peace. A definite 5-star company. Kale responded quickly after I left a voicemail and set up an appointment for a free quote. Quote was delivered in time promised and included line item costs for multiple projects we wanted done. Once we agreed to the estimate, we were scheduled with dates for all 3 projects (knowing weather can always shift things slightly). First front of house project is done (weeding, removing bush, trimming hedge, and mulching) and we are 100% satisfied. It's wonderful to find a company which cares about its customers and communicates so well.

If I could give Kale and his crew 10 stars, I would. The soil under my air conditioning unit had eroded, and it was in immanent danger of falling over. He came out immediately, explained ways that he could resolve the problem, and then followed up and completed the work beautifully. He and his associates are people of integrity, with a strong work ethic and a perfect balance of warmth and professionalism that makes them stand out.
