Tom's Lawn & Garden & Appliance Center Introduce
For residents across Southern Indiana, especially in the Jasper and Dubois County area, having a reliable local resource for home maintenance, appliance needs, and lawn care is essential. That's where Tom's Lawn & Garden & Appliance Center steps in. As a small, family-owned business, this establishment goes beyond the typical big-box hardware experience, offering a specialized selection of products and, crucially, in-house expertise for service and repairs.
Since 1985, this center has built a reputation as a comprehensive destination that neatly combines several key services under one roof: a dedicated hardware store, a full-service lawn mower store, an appliance showroom, a landscaping supply center, and a tool store. This multi-faceted approach ensures that whether you’re undertaking a weekend DIY project, replacing a major household appliance, or getting your essential outdoor equipment ready for the season, you have access to knowledgeable staff and necessary resources right here in the community. Their history in the region, dating back decades, speaks to a deep commitment to serving the needs of local homeowners and professional landscapers alike.
The core business model focuses on both sales of quality products and providing reliable after-sales support, distinguishing itself from retailers that focus solely on inventory. This commitment to service is particularly valued in the area, offering a local alternative for expert assistance that is often difficult to find.
Conveniently situated in Jasper, Indiana, Tom's Lawn & Garden & Appliance Center is easily accessible for locals and those traveling from surrounding Southern Indiana communities like Ferdinand, Huntingburg, and Dubois. The precise address is a familiar landmark for many in the area.
For visitors, the location has been optimized for ease of access, a key factor for customers often hauling bulky items like lawnmowers or large appliances. The facility is equipped with features to ensure everyone can navigate the store and parking area comfortably, which includes:
- Wheelchair accessible entrance
- Wheelchair accessible parking lot
- Planning options for a quick visit, catering to those who know exactly what they need
What truly sets this center apart is its comprehensive service model. It's not just a place to buy; it’s a place to get things fixed, installed, and maintained. The business is an authorized dealer for major brands, including Stihl, Grasshopper, Toro, Simplicity, Whirlpool, Bosch, LG, Sub Zero-Wolf, Thermador, Kitchenaid, and Maytag, ensuring they are equipped to handle a wide range of products. The services available cover everything from the smallest part replacement to major equipment overhaul:
- Expert Repair Services: This is a major offering, covering both home appliances and lawn/garden power equipment. The repair department has trained service technicians, often holding specialized certifications like STIHL MasterWrench Service® Gold-Level Certification for top-tier equipment maintenance. This expertise is particularly critical for complex and expensive machinery.
- Installation Service: For newly purchased appliances or certain types of equipment, professional installation ensures correct and safe operation from day one.
- Lawn Mower and Garden Equipment Service: Specializing as a lawn mower store, they handle routine maintenance and complex repairs, helping residents keep their essential yard tools running smoothly through the seasons.
- Delivery and Pickup Options: To accommodate customers with large or heavy purchases, the center offers both delivery and in-store pickup options, adding a layer of convenience often preferred by local buyers.
- Warranty Assistance: The staff assists customers with filling out warranty papers for purchased items, ensuring all necessary coverage on new products.
- Sales of Equipment and Supplies: Offering one of the largest selections in Southern Indiana, customers can find everything from lawn equipment (mowers, trimmers, pressure washers) to major household appliances (refrigeration, laundry, cooking).
Tom's Lawn & Garden & Appliance Center emphasizes quality, selection, and localized support. These features create a distinct advantage for customers in the Indiana region looking for more than a generic shopping trip:
- Dual Specialization: The simultaneous focus on hardware/lawn care and major appliances is a unique proposition, making it a true one-stop-shop for key home and property needs.
- Authorized Dealer Status: Being an authorized dealer for multiple high-quality brands means they carry genuine parts and receive specific, up-to-date training on servicing those products.
- Long-Standing History: Serving customers since 1985, the business has deep roots in the community, reflecting decades of experience and market knowledge in Southern Indiana.
- Knowledgeable Staff: Customers frequently cite the knowledgeable sales staff and trained service technicians as a major benefit, providing expert advice that surpasses general retail assistance.
- Payment Flexibility: Transactions are made convenient with multiple payment options, including Credit cards, Debit cards, and NFC mobile payments.
It is worth noting that while many customers praise the expertise and quality of repairs, a minority of reviews indicate past issues regarding communication on repair costs and approval processes. As with any service provider, customers are encouraged to clearly discuss and confirm repair estimates, approval thresholds, and expected timelines upfront to ensure a smooth service experience.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My husband was told that this place was a good repair. But it wasn't. They couldn't fix my husband mower. But still charged money 💰. And he was very rude when I spoke while my husband was on the phone with him. I'll will definitely not coming back here. Who charges for that wasn't done?
October 02 · Vickie McHenryI brought our older Simplicity mower in for repair and specifically requested that the technician call before performing any work, as we were trying to avoid sinking too much money into it. After two weeks with no update, I was told the mower was ready—with nearly $500 in repairs already completed without prior approval.Once we brought the mower home and began using it, the same issue persisted. The initial diagnosis appears to have been incorrect. I returned the mower and spoke with Matt, explaining that if the problem couldn’t be resolved, I would prefer to pick it up and receive a refund.During that call, my wife—understandably frustrated—spoke up in the background and asked a fair question: “What if this had happened to you?” There was no yelling or profanity. Matt responded by saying it sounded like I had a problem with my wife, which I felt was inappropriate and unprofessional. In the end, I was refunded all but $100, and the part that had been installed was removed. We were not given the original part back.I left feeling that the level of service and communication was lacking, and I was disappointed in how the situation was handled. In my opinion, the way my wife and I were spoken to showed a lack of empathy and professionalism. As someone who has worked in the service industry for over 40 years, I do not recommend this business. I also could not find them listed as an accredited business on the Better Business Bureau website, which others may want to take into consideration.
August 05 · PASTOR ERICSame issue as many others on here. They charged me the cost of a brand new weed eater to fix mine and never called before to get permission. I would've bought a new one instead of fixing mine that is 5 years old. They also told me it would take 3 days. It ended up taking 4 weeks to get it fixed in the middle of summer. I called back a few times because they kept telling me 3 more days. One time they said they couldn't even locate it in the shop. Terrible customer service all around. Will not do business here and I'd advise against anyone else going here.
August 14 · AnonymousThis has to be one of the best services I have ever asked to help fix our lawn mowers. Last month, I called Tom's to fix three Snapper mowers after sitting them in our garage for two years with no one else to fix them. The service was extremely professional and picked up my mowers at a convenient time and place. The service was even better when they fixed our mowers as they fixed our Snapper mowers back to good shape again. The service took its time to clearly fix the issues with our rider and push mowers, and when they picked our mowers up and then dropped off, they treated our mowers with care alerting me about what was going on. They were not on convenient, but they are professional, trusted, and well loved in my book. They did a awesome job and I would recommend anyone to fix their mowers at Tom's Lawn & Garden more than anywhere else.
June 27 · Braydyn LentsOur fridge was leaking in April and they came and “fixed” it. The same issue happened again three months later in July. Two servicemen came and confirmed it was the same issue and told me my bill would be discounted. I now have the bill and it is actually $80 higher than the first bill, rather than discounted. If I knew I would be paying more for the same issue and not being credited for having to fix it second time, I would have chose to take my business elsewhere. I called to inquire on this issue and was told that the bill was correct, the issue was different than the first time (which is incorrect), and that the serviceman have nothing to do with billing and aren’t able to say the bill could be discounted. This is very poor customer service.
