As a local landscaper, Nick's Landscaping focuses on essential services required for year-round lawn health and aesthetics in the Midwest climate. While they are categorized as a general contractor in the landscaping space, their primary service offerings center around foundational yard maintenance.
Services commonly associated with local landscapers like Nick's Landscaping often include:
- Residential Lawncare: General, ongoing lawn maintenance, including services such as mowing, which is crucial for maintaining curb appeal.
- Seasonal Clean-ups: Comprehensive spring clean-up services, including removing leaves, sticks, and debris that accumulate over the winter months.
- Bed and Garden Work: Installing fresh layers of premium mulch to protect plant roots, retain moisture, and control weeds, along with bed edging to maintain clean, crisp borders between the lawn and garden areas.

- Lawn Renovation: Services such as seeding, sod installation, fertilizing, and aeration, which are vital for a thick, healthy lawn.

When selecting a landscaping contractor, Illinois homeowners prioritize factors like dependability, open communication, and the quality of the final work. For a local operation like Nick's Landscaping, the features worth noting pertain to their market position and service delivery model:
- Local Chicago-Area Focus: As a company based in Skokie, they are positioned to understand the specific soil conditions, plant species, and seasonal demands of the northern Illinois climate.
- Foundational Landscaping Services: The company focuses on the essential, recurring maintenance tasks (like clean-ups and mulching) that are the bedrock of property upkeep.
- Direct Communication Channel: The business uses a direct phone and text system for setting appointments, which, when functioning correctly, should facilitate rapid scheduling of estimates and services.
- Accessibility: Located on a main thoroughfare in Skokie, they are physically accessible to the local client base.
However, it is important for prospective clients to be aware that reviews from real local customers indicate significant issues related to responsiveness and reliability. Multiple users have reported a pattern of missed appointments and a complete failure to return phone calls or texts after initial contact, even when setting an appointment for an estimate. This suggests that while their service offerings are comprehensive, the follow-through and basic customer service—qualities homeowners rely on heavily—may be inconsistent. Clients are strongly encouraged to verify current reviews and communication reliability before committing to a project.

When evaluating whether Nick's Landscaping is the right choice for an outdoor project in the Illinois region, prospective clients should weigh the comprehensive nature of their services against the reported customer experience issues. On the one hand, they offer a full suite of essential residential landscaping services, including necessary seasonal clean-ups, mulching, bed edging, and potentially even brick paving, making them capable of handling the entire scope of a homeowner's foundational needs.
On the other hand, multiple public accounts highlight a critical failure in the initial stages of customer service: non-response after contact, failure to keep appointments for estimates, and unreturned calls. For any general contractor or specialist, especially one operating in a competitive market like Chicagoland, reliability in communication is paramount. Homeowners depend on contractors to show up when promised and to follow through on their commitments to maintain schedules. The existing public feedback suggests a significant risk of wasted time and frustration when attempting to secure their services.
Therefore, what is worth choosing is a service provider whose level of professionalism and dedication to customer service matches the quality of work they aim to deliver. While Nick’s Landscaping offers the necessary technical services, clients in Illinois are advised to proceed with caution and seek solid, verifiable confirmation of all communication and appointment scheduling before relying on them for time-sensitive or essential property maintenance work. For homeowners who prioritize dependability, this information should be a central part of their hiring decision.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Like the other crap reviews say, claims he will come and do work or give an estimate, and then proceeds to never return calls or texts. Runs his business like a scared child. Be a man and just say NO if you're not interested!!! Coward of a man.
August 13 · Hellas BoySpoke with nick and made an appointment for an estimate. Waited the day of and no show. I then text the number he called from. Nothing. I called and left a message and still no call back!! It blows my mind that they do not care for the business. After reading other reviews it looks like I am not the only person who had a no show. I would not recommend this business clearly they don’t care!
April 17 · HagzTwo weeks I try to contact the owner of this business because my yard ( front and back) is full of weeds , long grass around the gate , garbage And dirt what wind brings and leaves from my neighbor tree . I made videos and pictures of my yard and I tried to contact the owner to show him . He wouldn’t even come and check this horrible job .No response from him .This is the worse landscaping job I ever saw . They don’t care at all .I am very disappointed at this landscaping company
September 25 · Alma OmercajicWe do not use this landscaping company, but our next door neighbors do. Every week during the fall, they blow a large pile of our neighbor’s leaves onto our lawn. We’ve asked them in person not to do this, but they still do it, so we are hoping a bad review might get them to change. They definitely appear to cut corners.
November 25 · Christopher MahieuNick personally scheduled a job with me, sounded very professional so I told him I was going to cancel with my old service and use his. He encouraged that.... but never responded to my texts or calls after that. Never showed up for the job. I'm very disappointed 😞
