Landscape Designs Introduce
Note to Reader and Requester: The following content addresses the constraints of the request for an 800-word, professional, and factually-based article. It is important to acknowledge that the provided business name, "Landscape Designs," is explicitly categorized as a 'Landscaper,' which is a specialized trade, not a 'General Contractor.' This distinction is critical for SEO and factual representation. Furthermore, the only specific, factual customer data provided consists of two highly critical reviews. Generating a promotional-style article of over 800 words while *only* using these negative facts and *not* inventing any positive service information is fundamentally impossible. The content below adheres to the structure, but the 'Services Offered,' 'Features/Highlights,' and 'What is worth choosing' sections reflect the factual limitations of the provided source material, as inventing information is prohibited.
For residents across Illinois, particularly in the Southern Illinois region, finding a reliable and professional service provider for home or property improvement can be a crucial decision. While a general contractor oversees large-scale construction, renovation, and remodeling projects, coordinating all trades like electrical, plumbing, and structural work, specialized trades like landscaping focus specifically on transforming and maintaining your outdoor spaces. In the West Frankfort area, one name associated with exterior property enhancement is Landscape Designs.
Choosing the right provider for your project, whether it’s a full home remodel managed by a General Contractor or a dedicated landscaping update, requires careful research into their service history, quality of work, and customer relations. The difference between a general contractor and a specialized landscaper is important: a general contractor manages the entire build process, whereas a landscaper, like Landscape Designs, is typically focused on the external environment, including planting, gardens, and sometimes hardscaping elements.
Landscape Designs is conveniently situated to serve the local community and surrounding areas in Southern Illinois. Their physical location in West Frankfort ensures they are local to residents in need of landscaping and planting services.
Their location is listed as:
- 2385 Rose Ln, West Frankfort, IL 62896, USA
This central position in Franklin County allows for relatively easy access for local customers looking to discuss a project or pick up supplies, though accessibility should always be confirmed prior to any visit. Operating locally in Illinois means that the business is familiar with the unique climate, soil, and regional planting requirements specific to this part of the state. This local knowledge is an asset that customers often look for when entrusting their valuable landscaping projects to a professional.
Based on the business type ('Landscaper') and details available from public feedback, Landscape Designs appears to specialize in the provision and installation of plant material, which is a core offering for any landscaping company.
Services offered (Based solely on information provided in customer feedback, noting areas of execution):
- Tree and Plant Sales: Supplying various types of plant material, such as Eastern Pines and other trees.
- Plant and Tree Installation: Services involving the physical planting of purchased materials on the customer’s property.
- Landscaping and Design Elements: General placement of plant material, though customer reports note issues with symmetry, design, and proper placement techniques (such as hole depth and root ball preparation).
- Warranty Provision (Partial): Offering a specific, albeit partial, warranty (noted as 50% of the original cost) on plant material.
A professional landscaping service is generally expected to cover a wide array of activities, from initial design concepts and property grading to the installation of softscapes (plants) and hardscapes (patios, walkways). For any major home or yard project, prospective clients should seek a comprehensive and detailed list of all services, installation protocols, and quality standards to ensure the full scope of work is covered professionally.
While a company's feature list typically highlights their strengths and unique selling propositions, the only specific details available regarding the business's execution focus on the customer experience and the quality of their planting work.
Reported customer experiences indicate the following points as highlights of their service process:
- Initial Enthusiasm and Effort: Customers initially perceived the workers as hardworking and knowledgeable during the sales and initial installation phase.
- Quality of Surviving Product: The plant material that survived the initial weeks of installation was described by customers as "good looking."
- Identified Installation Issues: Public feedback highlights that installation methods were sometimes flawed, including insufficient hole depth, visible root balls after rain, and failure to remove wire from around the root ball.
- Customer Service Challenges: A key reported feature is the difficulty in reaching the company for follow-up or warranty claims, with calls frequently going unanswered or straight to voicemail.
- Payment Requirements: Customers have reported that the business required payment before the work could be inspected for quality and completeness.
When engaging with a local Illinois landscaper, a client should always seek confirmation of features that ensure a quality outcome, such as proper planting techniques, guaranteed symmetry, a detailed design plan, clear communication channels, and a warranty that is easily honored.

As demonstrated by the public feedback, it is advisable for any user in Illinois seeking assistance to be prepared to use both phone numbers and potentially other communication methods, such as email or direct visits, to ensure timely contact and project progression. Effective, consistent communication is a cornerstone of professional service in the construction and landscaping industries.
Choosing the right provider for your Illinois landscaping needs hinges on finding a partner who combines fair pricing with exceptional quality of work and reliable customer service. For a business to be truly worth choosing, they must demonstrate accountability and a commitment to customer satisfaction long after the payment has been processed.
Based on the limited factual data provided, a customer might initially be drawn by the perceived value or the aesthetic quality of the surviving plant material. However, the core of a worthwhile contractor relationship is trust and guaranteed workmanship. The available customer experiences suggest areas where potential clients should exercise caution and conduct further due diligence, particularly regarding:
- Honoring Warranties: Clarity on the warranty process is paramount, especially when purchasing perishable products like trees and plants. A 50% replacement warranty is a significant policy that must be fully honored without repeated customer attempts to contact the company.
- Quality Control on Installation: Customers should explicitly request and verify professional, documented installation standards, including correct hole depth and removal of non-biodegradable planting materials.
- Professional Conduct and Communication: An organization that is worth choosing will maintain professional communication, avoid belligerent behavior, and allow for a final inspection of the work before demanding payment, ensuring mutual satisfaction.
When planning your next landscaping project in West Frankfort, IL, or anywhere in the surrounding Illinois area, take the time to gather multiple quotes, check references extensively, and understand the full terms of service, payment schedules, and warranties offered. A commitment to quality craftsmanship and transparent customer service are the two most important factors that make a local business truly 'worth choosing' for your home improvement needs.

Landscape Designs Reviews
We bought 12 trees from Landscape Designs in June 2020. Five of them, all Eastern Pines, died within the first few weeks. My calls go straight to voicemail, and I’m feeling a bit like we were duped. We really liked these guys and would’ve loved to give them repeat business. They worked hard and seemed knowledgeable. The remaining trees are good looking and seem to be doing alright. I’m just disappointed that Landscape Designs is seemingly not willing to honor the warranty (which I just noticed the warranty is only 50% of original cost) by making it impossible to reach anyone.
August 27 · Ashley SmithPathetic is a good word to explain my experience. He will sell you the trees at the cheaper price however no follow up. He will not take your call to replace a dead tree even if it dies within the first few weeks. With regards to landscaping he will pretty much dump the plants without any symmetry or design or anything. One of the trees fell with the first rain because the hole was not dug deep enough. After the first rain the root ball started to show for some trees. To my shock I also found that he had not even bothered to remove the wire around the root ball. He will demand to be paid before anyone can inspect his work. He will get very belligerent if you would like to inspect the work before you pay him.
June 12 · Bilal KhanI recently bought 18 white pines and several shrubs and bushes but with that being said 3 pines died and when I called him he came the next weekend and replaced them for free due to his employees lack of following directions and I would and have recommended him to other people
October 28 · Steven BonerPoor Customer service. Tree died within a few weeks of installation due to being burried too deep. Plus the trees carreid needle cast.Have been trying to connect with them for six months without a return call.Don't recommend.
